Warranty and payment terms

Edurus offers a 25-year warranty and guarantees safe installation according to the Central Grave Care Committee’s guidelines.

Choosing a headstone is a meaningful and emotional decision. At Edurus, we want you as our customer to feel secure throughout the entire process. With our experience and dedication, we are here to support you and ensure that every step is carried out with care and compassion. Should any obstacles arise along the way, we always do our utmost to find a solution that feels right for you.

Stone is a natural material, and every headstone is unique. Therefore, slight variations in design, pattern, color shade, or engraving may occur. Edurus gravestones and stone accessories are handcrafted by skilled stonemasons, contributing to their personal expression, but this also means that minor differences in the final product may occur. Although Edurus always complies with the Swedish Consumer Purchase Act, small natural variations in the stone’s design, pattern, color shade, or engraving do not constitute a defect under the law. Complaints based solely on these variations will therefore be rejected.

Below you will find our Guarantees and General Terms and Conditions that govern your purchase.

Confirmation of the order implies that the customer accepts the conditions below. The warranty period applies from the date the stone is installed or delivered.

Edurus Guarantee of Assurance

Newly Manufactured Headstones

25-year warranty against cracking in the headstone, provided the damage has not been caused by external force—see the section “Warranty Exclusions.”

Paint in Text and Decoration

Two-year warranty on paint or gold leaf in text and decoration. Exceptions apply to gold leaf/gilded text on flat (horizontal) headstones and accessories, see “Warranty Exclusions.”

Accessories

Two-year warranty on for example, vases, lanterns, flower borders, grave frames, lids, porcelain photos, doves, sparrows, etc.

Installation

We guarantee professional installation in accordance with current industry standards.

Uprightness Guarantee

If the stone becomes noticeably tilted within one year of installation, we will correct it. This guarantee does not apply to ground subsidence or when the installation has been carried out by the cemetery administration, see “Warranty Exclusions.”

Additional Inscriptions

The same guarantees apply on existing tombstones as for our newly manufactured headstones.

Complaints

You always have the right to file a complaint within three years in accordance with the Swedish Consumer Purchase Act.

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does not cover:

-Damage, cracks, or tilting caused by external impact such as external force, extreme temperature changes, ground subsidence, lawn trimmers, or similar.
-Natural changes such as fading or discoloration due to sun, rain, wind, or similar exposure.
-Damage or discoloration caused by dirt, plants, moss, algae, candle wax, oil, rust, nicotine, improper cleaning agents, or similar.
-Gold leaf/gilded text or decorations on flat (horizontal) headstones or accessories (lanterns, vases, grave frames, grave covers, etc.).
-Installations not performed by Edurus or an Edurus-authorized subcontractor (e.g., when installations are carried out by cemetery administrations).
-(For additional inscriptions) Cracks or damage—especially those not visible during inspection prior to pickup or before engraving/resurfacing—that already existed in the stone before work began.

Installation

Edurus guarantees that the headstone will be installed in accordance with the Central Committee for Memorials (CGK) installation guidelines, as well as any local regulations, provided that these at least meet the CGK standards.

Installation Limitations

Installation may be affected by ground conditions. During the winter season or in the case of earth graves, the headstone may need to be stored for 3–12 months to ensure optimal installation results.
A headstone is considered delivered once it has been installed at the gravesite and the installation work is completed—or, in cases where cemetery staff perform the installation themselves, when the stone has been delivered to the designated location.

Installation Cost

The buyer is responsible for informing Edurus if the cemetery in question is difficult to access and therefore may incur additional installation costs, in order for the quoted installation price to remain valid.

Delays

If delivery is delayed due to production issues, transportation problems, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond Edurus’s control, the customer is not entitled to compensation or cancellation of the purchase, as long as the delay is not considered substantial according to the Swedish Consumer Purchase Act (Chapter 7, Section 6).

Payment Liability

If the invoice is issued to an estate, the person placing the order is personally responsible for payment in cases where the estate’s assets do not cover the cost. By confirming the order, the purchaser agrees to assume personal payment responsibility toward Edurus if the estate lacks sufficient funds or is dissolved before full payment has been made.

Ordering Authorization

The person placing the order must be the holder of the burial rights or someone who has been authorized by that person.

Ownership

Ownership of the headstone referred to in this agreement is transferred to the buyer once full payment has been received.

Right of Withdrawal

Since every headstone is a custom-made product created specifically for the customer, there is no right of withdrawal after the order confirmation has been approved (cf. the Swedish Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act, Chapter 2, Section 11, item 3).

Force Majeure

If a delay in Edurus’s delivery is caused by force majeure—such as war, export or import restrictions, natural disasters, disruption of public transport or energy supply, fire, labor disputes, or any other equally significant or exceptional cause—the buyer is not entitled to compensation or the right to cancel the purchase.

Disputes

In the event of a dispute concerning the interpretation or application of these terms, it should primarily be resolved through an agreement between the parties and/or in accordance with the recommendations of the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
