Workshop & work environment
Edurus is a Swedish company, with Swedish owners, founded by Marcus Skinnar. The production and delivery of our gravestones only takes place in well-controlled and certified work environments that are regularly inspected by third parties.
Cultural heritage
Our gravestones are manufactured in Malung at Malung Stenfabrik in Dalarna and in Chongwu, China. In Malung, we are working to recreate a craft tradition and skills that have unfortunately been largely forgotten in Sweden. In Malungs Stenfabrik we manufacture Edurus Nordic collection with stone from quarries in the Nordic countries. The nearest one is only six miles from the factory.
Chongwu province has been the center of stone cutting in a direct line of descent since the 14th century and manages a unique cultural heritage. Many of our employees come from stonemasonry families with 1000 years of tradition. Their craftsmanship in creating art in stone from models in pictures and sketches is exceptional and unparalleled in Sweden today.
Work process
It is important to work with zero vision for mistakes. Therefore, the company has developed a clear work process where the detailed work is carefully documented and evaluated.
Freight
The basic stone production takes place in Malung and transportation is by train and truck. When the stone is imported, it is shipped by container ship to Europe.
Work environment
Everyone working in stone production must undergo safety training. Work equipment, such as protective clothing and breathing masks, is mandatory and checks and training are carried out continuously.
Safety and security
The stones are secured in the foundation by approved stone setters. We follow the Central Graves Commission’s regulations for safe installation.
