Bårarp gneiss

Bårarp gneiss is a natural stone quarried in Bårarp and nearby areas in northwestern Skåne. The area is known for its rich geological history and for being one of the main sources of gneiss in the country.

Gneiss is a metamorphic rock formed by the transformation of existing bedrock under high pressure and temperature. It has a similar composition to granite but has undergone a further process of metamorphism giving it a more banded or layered structure. It can have a similar color palette to granite, but the striations and shifts in texture often provide a unique visual effect.

The geographical proximity to the extraction sites makes Bårarp gneiss a local and sustainable option for those who value both quality and origin. Its importance as a local resource and the quality it represents has made Bårarp gneiss a sought-after stone for tombstones.

Bårarp gneiss is characterized by its rich colors and patterns, which vary from deep gray shades to darker tones with hints of black and brown. Its natural beauty and variety make each tombstone unique and personal.
